Premature ejaculation is a very common sexual dysfunction is men these days. The research carried out by the co-authors Prasad Mamidi and Kshama Gupta and published in the International Journal of Yoga, highlighted the efficacy of Yoga on the management of premature ejaculation as compared to naturopathy.

In order to qualify for the trial, all the participants needed to pass eligibility criteria by satisfying the rules of the DSM IV TR diagnosis process. As many as 12 participants with PE were selected and divided into two groups- Yoga and Naturopathy. Both the processes involved one hour of regular performances of appropriate postures and procedures for 21 days at a stretch. Men in the Yoga group performed different types of asanas, mudras, and pranayama, while men in naturopathy group did steam bath, lower abdomen massage or lingasana. Premature Ejaculation Severity Index (PESI) was set to decide severity of premature ejaculation in the participants.

Based on the PESI scores, 7.3% patients were relieved from the PE with yoga, while only 2.4% patients found relief from PE practicing naturopathy.

However, on the total score of PESI technique, not much difference was noticed between these two procedures, and also did not offer complete relief from the sexual dysfunction.
According to the authors, the study was short timed with only 21 days and fewer numbers of asanas or various postures from both the Yoga and Naturopathy were observed.

Key Parameters Required For Triggering Erection without Causing an Early Ejaculation
It requires nervous and cardiovascular performances to foster an erection, while the relaxation of the entire system is important to keep the blood intact in the central nervous system and make it available for the penile region. However, when you are stressed out and anxiety hovers over you, your entire systems, including that of cardiovascular systems and nervous systems become anxious and stressed, facilitating the blood flow to all of the region of the body, hence preventing the blood to be concentrated only in the penile region. Efficacy Of Sitting And Non Sitting Yoga Postures To Treat Premature Ejaculation
A study carried out and co-authored by three researchers Prashant Patil, Girish V Thakare, Jayant J Makwana and Sarika P Patil focuses on the effectiveness of the yoga asanas done through sitting and non-sitting postures.

The study assessed the condition of premature ejaculation in 30 patients aged between 30 and 45 years of old. The study focused the effectiveness of the different asanas and yoga on the ejaculation duration in patients.

As per the authors of the study, there are several definitions that define the meaning of premature ejaculation.

Any involuntary ejaculation is PE, if it takes place in less than two minutes post penetration. On the other hand, premature ejaculation occurs when a man ejaculates much before his partner reaches orgasms.

However, there are no set rules to define premature ejaculation in men as there are several factors including satisfaction and happiness level of the sexual activity, influencing the onset of premature ejaculation.

In addition to this, the intravaginal ejaculation time (IELT) has been considered as a medium to measure the intensity of premature ejaculation in men in the recent times. As per this measurement procedure, the mean time of ejaculation in healthy and active men aged between 20 and 30 is about 390 seconds, while the average intravaginal ejaculation time in patients with premature ejaculation time is very short spanning, and lasts only about 120 seconds.

The expulsion of seminal fluid through the urethra is controlled by the sympathetic nervous systems. Hence, unless you receive a rapid neurological response from the nervous system in the pelvic region, you cannot get the fulfillment to release seminal fluid post penetrative sex.
With the reduction of sympathetic pressure on the mental and physical health following the parasympathetic responses with adequate amount of yoga practices, they relax your mind and body. With regard to this, different forms of yoga and pranayama contribute to body flexibility, and hence they allow for more maneuvers while using various sex positions.  

In addition to this, kundalini yoga boosts sexual performance and improves the sexual relationship between the couples.

Any type of sexual dysfunctions such as the premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunctions are known as a psychosexual disorder, but with the regular practice of Yoga and that of Kundalini yoga, you can relax your mind and body, and as a result you can correct the premature ejaculation.

During the observation process, it was found that yoga accomplished through sitting postures can prolong the duration of the ejaculation time and increased the satisfaction level for both of the partners. On the contrary, yoga performed through non-sitting postures fail to prolong the ejaculation duration.

After a month of training, it was found that men who performed sitting asanas had more control over their ejaculation than those who performed other types of asanas without sitting postures. The measurement was carried using the Intravaginal ejaculation time or (IELT). Therefore, the study proved that sitting asanas are more beneficial to foster better ejaculation control and contribute to the enhanced sexual life.

The study also highlighted another key factor leading to premature ejaculation in men.
Sexual pleasure is a phenomenon which needs the mental and physical relaxation to relish the ecstasy of the divine act. It is known that the different yoga postures and pranayama relax the mind and body, thus facilitating the successful sexual session and finally intense orgasms.

At the same time, if your pelvic region and its surrounding muscles are not relaxed, you are likely to suffer from premature ejaculation. In many studies, it is found that patients with poor pelvic floor muscles which are highly stressed out due to exhaustion are likely to cause premature ejaculation. This is why you need to relax the pubococcygeus or PC muscles in the pelvic floor region with different available techniques like that of yoga postures or asanas and pranayama.

As with premature ejaculation, the study expressed that the muscles in the pelvic floor should be taught to be relaxed so as to have control over the ejaculation process.

As with muscles, they tend to be more flexible and relaxed when the rate of mobility is higher. The same applies to the PC muscles as well. However, when the muscles are not relaxed in the pelvic region due the high rate of stress level in the modern days, the muscles tighten up and refuse to relax and as result, the premature ejaculation occurs. If you are focused to increase, strengthen and maintain the pubococcygeus muscles with specific types of training such as yoga and various asanas, you can stretch the muscles and get them working. This way, you can have control over your pelvic floor muscles and avoid the factors leading to premature ejaculation.

The effectiveness of yoga in curing premature ejaculation is well established with this study. Not only does this study advocate for better ejaculation performance with regular practice of yoga, but many studies have focused on the efficacy of this age old Indian tradition valid since the Rigveda.
